Questions you might have
What if they're shy or nervous on camera?
Most people are. That is completely normal. We are experienced interviewers who know how to put people at ease. Within ten minutes most people forget the camera is there. It tends to become one of the most meaningful conversations they have ever had.
How long does the filming take?
It depends on the package. The Story is a relaxed half-day session. The Feature is a full day. The Legacy spans two to three days. We never rush. The real story only comes out when people feel at ease.
Do you travel to us?
Yes. We film UK-wide. We come to your home, a family location, or wherever feels most right. Travel is included in every package.
Can we include old photos and home videos?
Absolutely. We integrate your family archive into the final film. Photos, old VHS footage, letters, documents, anything with meaning. It adds real depth and texture to the story.
Is it only for older people?
Not at all. A Life Feature is for anyone with a story worth telling. We have filmed people at all stages of life. If someone has lived something worth documenting, and most people have, we would love to help get it on record.
Can they record messages to individual family members?
Yes. Individual messages are included in The Feature and The Legacy. Private, personal messages delivered separately to each family member. They are often the part families treasure most.
How long until we receive the finished film?
Typically four to six weeks after filming. We take care with the edit to make sure it is right.
Could we just do this on a phone?
You could. But a phone on a kitchen table does not create the same conditions, draw out the same depth, or produce something your family will want to watch properly. The difference between a recorded conversation and a real documentary is the difference between a snapshot and a portrait.
