Who we are
Life Feature is a UK personal documentary film service, operated by Mad Manners. For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the data controller. You can contact us at any time at hello@lifefeature.co.uk.
What we collect
When you contact us through the website we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you provide it) and the contents of your message. During a commission we collect the personal stories, photographs, home videos and documents you choose to share with us for the purpose of making your film.
How we use it
We use your contact details to respond to your enquiry and to plan and deliver your film. Archive materials you share with us are used only to produce your commissioned film. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use your story for any purpose other than delivering your film, unless you have given us explicit written permission (for example, as part of our founding client offer).
Where it is stored
Enquiry details are processed by Web3Forms (our contact form provider) and held in our email system, hosted by Fastmail. Project files are stored on encrypted drives and, during editing, on secure cloud storage. Finished films are delivered via private link and are not publicly listed or indexed.
How long we keep it
Enquiry emails are kept for up to 24 months. Project materials are kept for up to 12 months after delivery of your film, so we can supply replacements or re-edits, after which they are securely deleted unless you ask us to keep them longer. You can ask us to delete your materials at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@lifefeature.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been handled improperly.
